Driving with potholes: protecting your suspension and rims

Kingston's roads can be rough. Potholes damage tyres, rims, tie-rods, ball joints and alignment.

Signs of pothole damage

  • Steering wheel no longer centred
  • Car pulls to one side
  • A bulge on the tyre sidewall
  • New knocking over bumps

How to reduce damage

Keep tyres properly inflated (underinflated tyres pinch-cut), leave space to see the road ahead, and slow down before, not during, a pothole.

When to get checked

After any hard hit that causes a bang, have the alignment and suspension inspected.
