How often should you change your oil in Jamaica?

Owner's manuals list 'normal' and 'severe' service schedules. Most Jamaican driving counts as severe.

Why severe?

Heat, dust, short trips, stop-and-go traffic and hills all count as severe conditions.

Our rule of thumb

  • Conventional oil: 3,000–5,000 km
  • Synthetic oil: 5,000–8,000 km
  • Always change the filter too
  • Check the level monthly

Use the right grade

Modern Japanese engines often specify 0W-20. Thicker oil isn't 'better'. Use what the engine was designed for.
