Hurricane season: protect your car before and after a storm
Your car is a big investment. A little prep before a hurricane watch saves a lot after.
Before the storm
- Fill the tank: stations close and queues form
- Park away from trees, light poles and gullies
- Photograph the car for insurance
- Charge or disconnect the battery if parking for days

After the storm
- Don't start a car that has been in floodwater above the floor
- Check oil for a milky look
- Dry carpets fast to avoid mould and electrical corrosion
