Engine & drivetrain
1NZ-FE 1.5L or 2NR-FKE 1.5L, mostly CVT.
“Axios do a lot of route-taxi style mileage around Kingston. Stop-start traffic on Hope Road or Washington Boulevard is hard on CVT fluid, so plan a CVT drain-and-fill every 40,000 km instead of waiting for 'lifetime' fluid to fail.”
Common problems we see
- CVT shudder or delayed take-off when the fluid has never been changed
- Ignition coil misfires (rough idle, flashing check-engine light)
- Front lower control arm bushings and sway-bar links knocking on rough roads
- AC compressor clutch and condenser fan faults in the heat
Oil & service
0W-20 or 5W-30 synthetic, roughly every 5,000–7,000 km in JA conditions. Check coolant, brake fluid and tyre pressures monthly.
