Understanding OBD2 fault codes
Codes like P0300 tell us where to look, not what part to buy.
Code letters
- P = powertrain
- B = body
- C = chassis
- U = network/communication

Example
P0171 'system lean' could be a vacuum leak, a dirty MAF sensor or a weak fuel pump. Testing tells which.
